No Novo Testamento se citam porções deste salmo e se aplicam a Cristo (1Co 15:27; Hb 2:6-8). Jesus tomou forma de homem, fazendo-se um pouco menor aos anjos (Hb 8:5) e elevará por cima dos anjos a todos os que lhe pertencem quando deva reinar sobre os céus novos e a terra nova. Jesus é a única pessoa que reflete perfeitamente a imagem de Deus (Gal 2:20; Col 1:15).
