Salmos 75

To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, A Psalm

Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.
The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.

A metáfora das 'colunas da terra' (v.3) era comum no Antigo Oriente Médio para descrever a estabilidade cósmica. Arqueólogos encontraram textos ugaríticos (século XIII a.C.) com expressões similares, mostrando que era um conceito cultural compartilhado.O termo 'Selá' (v.3) aparece 71 vezes nos Salmos. Sua origem é incerta - pode ser marcação musical (pausa ou interlúdio) ou sugestão de meditação.
I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

O verso 7 ecoa 1 Samuel 2:7-8, onde Deus inverte as posições sociais. Essa teologia do 'rebaixamento/exaltação' seria radicalizada no NT (Lucas 1:52-53) como princípio do Reino de Deus.
For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them .

O 'cálice da ira' (v.8) tornou-se símbolo do juízo divino no AT (Jeremias 25:15) e NT (Apocalipse 14:10). A 'mistura' pode se referir ao costume antigo de adicionar especiarias ao vinho para intensificar seu efeito.
But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

A promessa de quebrar os ímpios e exaltar os justos (v.10) tem paralelo em Daniel 7:27. Críticos apontam contradição com Salmos 73 onde justos sofrem - a tensão entre teologia retributiva e realidade histórica permeia a literatura sapiencial.
