A Psalm of David.

Give unto the LORD , O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

A expressão 'filhos dos poderosos' (hebraico 'bene elim') gera discussão: pode referir-se a seres celestiais (como em salmo 89:6) ou líderes humanos. A Septuaginta traduz como 'filhos de Deus', sugerindo uma assembleia divina.
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.

A menção do Senhor sobre 'muitas águas' ecoa mitos cananeus onde Baal controlava tempestades. O salmo apropria essa imagem para exaltar Yahweh, negando o poder de Baal (contexto de sincretismo religioso no antigo Israel).Possível ligação com a criação (gn1:2) e o controle de Deus sobre o caos aquático (sl93:3-4).
The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.

Cedros do Líbano eram símbolos de força e prestígio, usados em templos (1rs5:6). A quebra deles representa o poder absoluto de Yahweh sobre a natureza e os símbolos pagãos.
He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

Sirion é o nome fenício do Monte Hermon (dt3:9), região associada a cultos cananeus. O salmo usa geografia pagã para demonstrar o domínio de Deus.
The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.

'Assentou-se sobre o dilúvio' pode aludir tanto ao dilúvio de Noé (gn7-8) quanto ao mito do deus que vence o caos aquático (como em sl29:10). Afirma o governo eterno de Yahweh sobre forças destrutivas.
The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
