Oséias 7

11Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

Manahem, o rei do Israel, tinha pago a Assíria para que o apoiasse militarmente (2Ki 15:19-20); O rei Oseas se rebelou contra Assíria e foi ao Egito a pedir ajuda (2Ki 17:4). Os reis do Israel foram várias vezes a aliar-se com diferentes nações quando deveram aliar-se com Deus.

12When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
