6Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

Um tributo era uma contribuição imposta às nações conquistadas. O imposto ajudava a manter o governo, e demonstrava que a nação conquistada estava sob o controle do Israel.
