6And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ish-tob twelve thousand men.

devido a que Hanún seguiu um mau conselho, suspeitou dos motivos dos embaixadores e os humilhou. deu-se conta de que Davi estava zangado e imediatamente formou suas forças para a batalha. Deveu ter pensado mais cuidadosamente sobre esse conselho, mas embora não o tivesse admitido, deveu ter tentado negociar com o Davi. Em troca, negou-se a admitir qualquer falta, e se alistou para a guerra. Freqüentemente respondemos com ira, e à defensiva, em vez de admitir que cometemos um engano, pedir desculpas e tratar de dissipar a ira da outra pessoa. Em lugar de brigar devemos estar dispostos a procurar a paz.
