19Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD .

O sangue orvalhado sobre o altar representava a inocência do animal sacrificado que tomava o lugar da culpabilidade da pessoa que fazia a oferenda. O animal morria para que a pessoa pudesse viver. Este ritual esperava com interesse o dia quando Jesucristo, o Filho perfeito de Deus, sacrificaria sua vida inocente na cruz para que a humanidade pecadora e culpado pudesse salvar do castigo que se merecia (Hb 10:1-14).
