24And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid.

Davi não estava de bom humor quando saiu rumo à propriedade do Nabal (25.13, 22). Não obstante, deteve-se escutar as palavras da Abigail. Se lhe tivesse feito caso omisso, tivesse sido culpado de tomar vingança com suas mãos. Não importa se pensarmos que temos toda a razão, sempre devemos ser cuidadosos para nos deter e escutar o que outros têm que dizer. À larga, o tempo e o esforço extra podem nos economizar muita dor e problemas.

31That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.
